About the Artist ⭒
Meredith Tomazic (b. 2004) is an abstract painter working primarily in acrylic and ink. Her work emphasizes color, gesture and layered surfaces through an intuitive, process-based approach.
Guided by observation and instinct, her paintings develop through a balance of control and spontaneity. Shaped by her surroundings and personal experience, her practice is grounded in faith, attentiveness, and a commitment to exploration. She is currently pursuing a BFA in painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and is expected to graduate in May of 2026.

My work uses abstraction to engage the subconscious and the unknown through color, gesture, and material response. Rather than beginning with fixed imagery or narrative, each painting develops through the interaction of color relationships and brushstrokes.
I start with fluid washes of ink, allowing the material to move freely across the surface and establish an initial structure. Color and texture are gradually built through layered applications and intuitive mark-making. Decisions are guided by observation and instinct, allowing uncertainty to remain visible within the work.
Influenced by the openness and material sensitivity of Abstract Expressionism, I approach each painting as an evolving process. Abstraction becomes a way of working through complexity, using color to create moments of tension, pause, and clarity.
